BFC G98 Rossi Wins Pats Cup Championship Final

Great wins in the three pool games, disposing of two Pateadores teams and Slammers EGSL, set up the Championship decider on Sunday afternoon against KoldingQ, a top club team visiting from Denmark.

The final was a tough physical defensive game. It was nil all at the half and our Beach team had withstood all that was thrown at them from the physical Danish team. The Beach team played stronger in the second half. From a corner Sophia Abboud headed in a goal that gave us the lead.  The team then held on robustly despite injuries to 3 players to win the championship.

A great start to the new year for our Beach team scoring 17 goals and only allowing one over the four games.

U10 Mayors Division State Cup Champions

2016 Boys U10 Mayors Division State Cup – Champions

After a slow start, with an opening game 3-1 loss, the boys rallied together and really showed the desire to play for each other, the club and their coach. They stormed the remaining group games and came top, putting them in to the next round and on route to the final. Three close and hard fought battles followed as Beach FC BU10 SB Black made it to the Cup Final on a windy morning in Silverlakes. The team started strong taking an early lead despite playing into gusty wind, two lapses left them 2-1 down at the half and with lot’s of work to do. After some great team play they equalized and went on to dominate the second half with a 4-2 win.
Overall a well deserved moment for each and every player of what has been a great team.

Governors State Cup: GU10 Calatroni – Champions

In a 93 team pool, Coach Ricardo Calatroni’s GU10 team came out victorious in the Governors Division of the Cal South State Cup Tournament. The team’s defense, stellar goalkeeping and relentless offensive attack proved to be the difference. Through weather conditions that included cold, wind, rain and heat, Coach Calatroni’s girls secured hard fought victories against tough opponents. These girls were united in their effort, playing smart and aggressive soccer. Throughout the 9-game tournament, the team only gave up 3 goals, finishing with five consecutive shutouts. The result of the championship game was a 1-0 victory against a tough La Esperanza team. This was such a sweet victory for this team of friends. Congratulations girls!

Beach FC Boys Gold 2002 Wins 2017 Man City Cup!

Beach FC Gold 2002 Moratoya brought home the 2017 Manchester City Cup Championship
presented by Nexen Tire in dramatic fashion.

The tournament featured over 400 elite teams, including US Developmental Academy and ECNL
teams from all over California as well as international competition from Mexico and England.
Beach FC Gold 02 started with shutout victories over NorCal PDP (3–0) and Total Futbol
Academy (4–0) before losing a close match to DUSC Coachella. Their record was good enough
for a wildcard berth into the semifinals — where they found a new gear.

The team beat Boca OC White 3–0 to advance to the final against Corinthians SC. The teams
were also finalists in last year’s Albion Cup. Beach looked to repeat its win there, while
Corinthians was out for payback.

Beach would score, only for Corinthians to equalize. In the final minutes, Corinthians pulled
even once again at 3–3.

The banner along the side of the field read, “We Fight to the End.” It was a fitting backdrop as
Beach put all five spot kicks away, and sealed the title with a terrific save.

With the win, Beach FC U15 moves up to #2 in CalSouth, right behind the Boca OC White team
they beat in the semifinals.

Beach Futbol Club G04 Nunes 2017 President’s Division State Cup Champions

Beach FC G04 Nunes team finished what they started last spring, with a State Cup Championship on Sunday, March 5. Playing against a very fast and athletic UIFC Venom team, Beach FC was able to get the game winner late in the second half and win 1-0 in the State Cup final.

Last season for Beach FC G04 Nunes was a successful one on paper, but their coach did not see the growth he desired on the field. In spring the team made a decision. The team decided that it wanted to play a better style and brand of soccer. It did not want to rely on its raw talent and pure athleticism to win games anymore. Starting in the South Bay PDL, where the team played small sided games all spring, they started to focus on a more possession style soccer. They worked hard at it over the next few months. That mindset continued through a very difficult and competitive season where they took 2nd place in their SCDSL Tier 2 bracket. The team fell short of first by only a couple points but it left them hungry for more.

Beach FC G04 Nunes entered State Cup hoping to have a strong showing and showcase their development. Placed in what was posted as the “Group of Death”, Beach FC knew they would have a difficult route to the cup. The uphill battle would start early in the first game of the tournament. After going down 2-0 in the first game of State Cup, Beach FC turned it on. They came back to win that game 3-2 and never looked back. They won all three pool play games, scoring 12 goals in what was considered the most difficult bracket of the age group. That challenge in pool play prepared the team for the knockout round as it faced 5 more very strong teams in route to the Championship.

It was one game at a time for Beach FC. The opponents down the line were too good to look past and the task would have been overwhelming. In the end though, Beach FC found itself raising the State Cup trophy and celebrating their journey. They will now go to Salt Lake City, Utah to compete in Regionals the week of June 12. There they will represent Beach FC and Cal South and play for the Regional Championship.

Congratulations to Beach FG G04 Nunes for your accomplishments. Your hard work is paying off and we are proud of you. Keep it up and good luck at Regionals!
