About/Bio:

Coaching Bio for Samantha Kaufman (formerly Samantha Drees)
Originally from Fairfax, VA, Samantha played four years of college soccer at the University of Arizona, serving as Team Captain her senior year. A central midfielder by trade, Samantha holds the distinction of being the only player in Wildcat history to play every position during her college career, including goalkeeper. She currently captains the Guam National Team where she plays a dual role as a center back and a holding midfielder. In 2014, she received an MVP award in the East Asian Fútbol Federation Round 1 play. She is currently entering her third year with the Beach FC in the Women’s Premier Soccer League (WPSL). Samantha was a starting center back for Beach FC team who won the 2014 WPSL National Championship.

Samantha played club soccer in Virginia, competing for the PWSI Cardinals and BRYC Attack. Her teams’ won a combined three State Championships, a Regional I Championship, and her PWSI squad was a finalist in the 2007 USYSA National Championship. She was also a member of both the Virginia ODP Regional and State teams.

Samantha began her coaching career with the Arizona Rush Soccer Club in 2006, coaching and training several youth teams. She also served as a technical trainer, working with numerous Arizona youth players who moved on to play college soccer. In 2010-2011, Samantha joined the Arizona ODP staff, serving as an assistant coach for the G98’s.

Samantha was the varsity girl’s soccer coach for the 2010-2011 Mountain View High School team in Tucson, Arizona. She guided her team to the State Semi-Finals, losing to the eventual State Champion. She coached for two years as the Junior Varsity girl’s soccer coach and Assistant Varsity Coach at Long Beach Wilson High School. In 2013, the Wilson varsity team won the CIF-SS and Moore League Championships.

In addition to coaching, Samantha is an elementary and middle school teacher at St. Pius X in Santa Fe Springs, CA. She relishes the positive impact teachers and coaches have upon their students.
Samantha graduated from the University of Arizona (’10) with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education and Health. She currently lives in Long Beach with her husband Dalton and two-year old son, Callum.
