Coach Marcus began his playing career in Detroit, MI at the age of 7 years old. As a youngster he played AYSO, eventually moving onto competitive soccer for Michigan Wolves where he played two seasons before his final club stint at Vardar III SC (aka Vardar Academy). At Vardar, he won 6 State titles (Bu13-Bu18) and one Regional Championship, and was a National Finalist at U18. He played 4 years of Varsity soccer for two high schools (Fraser High and De La Salle Collegiate). In those years, he achieved a 3rd place finish for Mr. Soccer in the State of Michigan.

After High School, Coach Marcus went on an athletic scholarship to Indiana University (IU) in Bloomington where he won a NCAA College Cup in 1999 and two BIG TEN championships, along with a NCAA College Cup Semi-Finalist appearance in 2000, a NCAA College Cup Finalist appearance in 2001, and a NCAA 2nd round appearance in 2002.

Marcus graduated from IU with a Bachelors in Economics and Minor in Political Science & Business. He decided to pursue a career as a professional soccer player in Europe and signed a two-year contract with SK Slovan Bratislava in the Slovakian Republic First Division. His decision to play overseas was unique for a 21 year old, but the experience and adversity allowed him the insight and knowledge of how soccer is played in Europe. After his two-year stint, Coach Marcus decided to play in the Canadian League for a season before taking a path into coaching.

Marcus had a short coaching stint in Michigan before setting his new path in Southern California, where he began with South Bay SC. He continued with South Bay Force, LA Galaxy South Bay, Strikers FC South Bay, and now Beach FC. As a coach he has achieved two CalSouth National Cup Championships in 2018 & 2019 for Bu18, the 2017 NHB Cup Championship, the 2016 Surf Cup Bu16 Championship, the 2018 Surf Cup Bu19 Super Group Championship, and FarWest Regional Finalist appearance in 2018 & 2019.  He has trained/coached several players to Division I College Soccer at UCLA, Cal Berkley, Dartmouth, Old Dominion, and several other players to the NCAA Division II & Division III levels.  His knowledge and experience in the region has allowed him to create unique, successful teams by using his playing experiences in the Midwest and Europe, and has found a successful system of developing young strong soccer players for the Beach FC brand.
